Hi, I’m Kimberly!
There’s so much unpredictability in this world. That’s why I like to go with the flow during my shoots. Most sessions are done outside, and nature is ever changing. I like to let the setting and the family’s feelings tell me where to photograph that day.
The rest of my sessions are done in my clients’ homes. And boy, do I love those shoots. It’s so amazing to be welcomed into a space that’s so special and be able to tell a story that is all about this special time in their lives.
Children are amazing. They are unapologetically themselves. And I love that! I try my best to get a kid to smile and listen to directions, but I know not to push them too far. There are a few tricks that I have learned in the last decade either from taking photos or working in early education about getting kids to cooperate. So if you think your kiddo might be a little challenging in front of the camera, give me a chance. I bet I can get them to warm up.
I tend to move pretty quickly through my sessions. This is especially helpful when working with toddlers and other busy-bodied little ones. There’s no need to spend 20 minutes in one spot if we already captured some great memories.
Here are some quick facts to get to know me a little better:
I grew up in Hoffman Estates, a suburb of Chicago. After graduating from Valparaiso University, I moved out to LA. That move was intended to be temporary, but I stayed there for the next two years. In 2010 I moved up to San Francisco and I’ve lived here ever since.
The one thing I am told the most is, “You have so much patience.” To that, I typically say, “You should meet my husband.”
I take a lot of care into the things that I do. And sometimes that means that I get lost in an idea.
I love to learn. Sometimes I ask too many questions. But I always like to know as much as possible. Some might think that would make me control freak, but that’s not the case. I’m very much a “go with the flow” kind of person. I like to be aware of how things might work out and why, but I know that there is very little in this world that I have complete control over.
I am a relatively quiet person. Not the kind of person who will talk just to fill up the silence. I’m 100% okay with silence. This is how I have been ever since I was little. But I don’t like to say that I am shy. One time I asked my sister to describe me as a child, and this is what she said, “You were oddly confident for how quiet you were.”
I love stripes.
This May (on Mother’s Day), I became a mama myself! My daughter, Sienna, is why I started my business and I’m so happy that she’s finally here. She also is probably the reason I might take a little longer to respond to emails these days. So thank you for your patience while I figure out working from home with a beautiful baby around.
